Services

Crossroads Shelter offers the following services:

Emergency Shelter Program
Crossroads Shelter has 24 beds, which includes space for single men, single women, married couples, single parents, and families. During their stay at the Shelter, clients are required to meet regularly with their Case Manager who assists them with setting appropriate goals and monitors their progress. Clients are referred to a variety of human service organizations and mainstream resources for assistance, as deemed appropriate (such as mental health services, the department of social services, Virginia Employment Commission and other employment services).

Road to Readiness
Emergency Shelter clients have the opportunity to apply for a longer-term transition program called the Road to Readiness. The program is focused on helping clients with identifying and overcoming obstacles to attaining and maintaining permanent housing. Clients and their Case Manager work together to set attainable goals such as obtaining a source of steady income; learning and practicing sound personal financial management skills, including saving money; finding affordable housing; participating in substance abuse programs, as appropriate; and improving necessary Life Skills, such as nutrition, organization, etc.
